Resumen
Calcium and phosphorus homeostasis is controlled by bidirectional fluxes at intestinal, kidney and bone. Both are necessary for cellular functions, bone mineralization, and their homeostasis is controlled by systemic and local factors like PTH, vitamin D and FGF23-Klotho axis. Calcium balance depend ends of body deposits, related to intestinal absorption, renal excretion and bone remodeling. Bone balance is modifying by growth, aging and hereditary of acquired diseases. PTH and 1,250HD actions are well known, and recently FGF23 have been implicated in phosphate regulation; it acts at renal level by union to Klotho-FGFR1 complex. The excess and deficiency of FGF23 raise disease with hypo and hyperphosphatemia.
