A retrospective study of 87 consecutive hyphema patients reveals an overall 2,3% incidence of rebleeding. Numerous factors were reviewed on each patient, including age, sex, grade of hyphema. 51 ,7% of the patients were treated on an outpatient basis and in the other 48,3% we used systemic antifibrinolytics. The low incidence of rebleeding, particularly in less severe hyphemas, does not support the routine use of systemic antifibrinolytics.
