Abstract

This thesis is framed in the fields of complex systems and synchronization, which are growing in interest on its practical applications. Most of this work is focused on a mathematical model for a pattern formation convective experiment and its dynamics when is coupled with another identical system. Also some applications of these effects are presented. This experiment has been chosen due to its richness of dynamics. Also for the practical interest of the method used for achieving synchronization of two systems of this kind, because there is a lack on theory for space-time sampling. On the other hand, it provides a widespread behaviors in different dynamical systems when is synchronized. The results show how the system complexity is reduced for different values of the couplings. To measure these effects we introduce a new measure of complexity.
