Resumo

Animal experimentation is today a basic activity of medical science. However, animal rights movements are opposed to this kind of experimentation, usually founded in the mere naturalistic vision of human beings and animals as equals. There is also opposition from the scientifi c point of view: animal research fi ndings hardly could be directly applicable to humans. Against these opinions, not few evidences prove that outcomes found in animals could be partially applicable to humans. Moreover, it is the qualitative difference itself between man and animal what legitimizes the animal experimentation. From such support are derived the ethical rules about the right management in animals of experimentation. These rules have also been collected in specific laws.
