Abstract

Persuasion in informative texts is produced through inexplicit linguistic resources. One example, relatively frequent in news articles, is the metaphoric conceptual anaphora. By means of this process, which addresses that previously expressed in the text, the journalist can also make a reference to the aforementioned words through others and to the intention with which these words have been put forth. The study of this phenomenon, as well as the testimonies obtained from the Spanish press, show how the metaphor allows the author of the news to conceive and also interpret a linguistic act from a different reality, and on occasions, with a notably valued charge.
