Résumé

The main purpose of this work is to reflect on the teacher’s role to effectively promote selfdetermination of students with intellectual disabilities, for the realization of their lifetime project. From a humanistic perspective, we emphasize on the need of having teachers who are committed, with an open and self-critic attitude, with values, and with the disposition to work in an interdisciplinary way towards innovative and inclusive educational practices. All of these, with the purpose of strengthening students’ autonomy for their optimal development throughout their lives.
