Abstract

People are at the heart of sustainable development. The world’s fastest growing population group is over 65 years old. Therefore, within the framework of Agenda 2030, the United Nations points out that the different countries must guarantee the well-being of these people by protecting their human rights and economic security, guarantying their access to health care, to formal and informal support networks and to ongoing learning. While the family has been and continues to be one of the most important sources of care, that requires the implementation of measures to balance work and family life, the digital transformation has greatly contributed to this possibility. The ILO World Commission on the Future of Work points out that investment in the care work economy, which could generate millions of jobs, is largely due to rapid demographic ageing. However, the speed of change and technological innovation opens the door to new opportunities and risks.
