Resumen

Este artículo analiza el estudio de la cadena de suministro como ámbito desde donde las empresas pueden llevar a cabo actividades de innovación social. Con esta premisa, se realiza una propuesta de factores ordenados que impulsan la innovación social en la cadena de suministro. Entre ellos, cabe destacar una cultura corporativa orientada a la sensibilidad social, una estrategia integrada en materia económica, social y ambiental, la regulación y la transversalidad de la comunicación como motor en estas prácticas. Finalmente, se exponen siete oportunidades y seis barreras en su implantación.
