Résumé
Caffeine (1,3,7- trimethilxanthine) belongs to the pharmacological group of xanthines. This ergogenic effect in sport is scientifically established because is a widely investigated substance. however, lack of scientific evidence exists on its tolerance or on its effect on other mechanisms. The main aim of this Doctoral Thesis was to evaluate and analyze new paradigms (adjacent mechanisms, fat oxidation associated with intensity and tolerance time) on caffeine intake. In order to answer this, 7 investigations with repeated measures, double-blind and randomized order experimental design were proposed. This research methodology was always compared with a placebo substance. In total 38 healthy active athletes participated in the investigations. In study 1, the effect of 3 mg/kg body weight of caffeine on the oxygen saturation of the lateral vastus quadriceps muscles during exercise with an incremental test to volitional fatigue was investigated. 13 healthy active participants took part in this investigation. Acute caffeine intake increased maximum aerobic performance, while caffeine-induced changes in muscle oxygen saturation, pulmonary ventilation and blood lactate concentration suggest that these mechanisms may also contribute to the ergogenic effect of caffeine.
