Abstract

The effective mission and ministries of the Church require the personal participation and support of all the faithful. The focus of this work and its proposal for the adaptation of the office of Stewardship and development, headed by the Executive Director of Stewardship, is to successfully promote the gifts of time, talent and treasure of the faithful. The promotion of these three gifts should go hand in hand with the theology of Stewardship and development, and its principles. Stewardship is an expression of discipleship with the power to change how the faithful understand and enjoy their lives. Stewardship as a way of life requires nourishment and guidance. This transformational task is usually assigned to The Executive Director of Stewardship and not to the Diocesan finance officer. The main reason is that their profile is so different. The Executive Director of Stewardship will be a central figure in the diocese to constantly invite the faithful to cherish, share and return with increase the fruits of God¿s abundant generosity. It is the expectation of the author that, this study will develop some concrete proposals for particular canonical provisions which will actually promote sound participation and collaboration of all the faithful to the mission of the Church as an implementation of c. 1261§2.
