Zusammenfassung

Every terrorist organisation needs to be written and spoken about in order to achieve its goal of intimidation and political change. But communication also has the power to oppose and dismantle the terrorist discourse. For this reason, journalists and writers, whose words have a certain reach and influence over public opinion, have often become targets of the violent. We observe the relationship between terrorism and communication, then we offer a non-exhaustive but illustrative review of cases in which the terrorist organisation ETA or its supporters placed professionals of the written word on the target, as well as an approach to the reasons why both journalists and writers under threat continued to carry out their work despite the risk.
