Abstract
In the field of science and faith, the word miracle is, for some, very uncomfortable. But what is the reason? What is the result of attempting to conceptualize a miraculous event? Generally speaking, what is a miracle? There is no doubt that this question raises a host of problems today. However, they are not intractable problems. There are doors through which to find exits. Those doors can be opened when we understand how the miracle is a limit concept in understanding the relationship between science and faith. In this sense, understanding the notion of a miracle implies understanding its mediating character within the science and faith dialogue, due to its phenomenal force. Understanding what is involved in trying to conceptualize a phenomenon as a miracle involves understanding what kind of phenomenon a miracle is. For this, it will be necessary to address the different forms and dimensions to which the concept of miracle fits and the influence of science on said concept. In order to try to understand why such a problematic notion is at the same time a way of mediation in the science and faith dialogue.
