Abstract
In some way, moral emotions show or reveal personal identity. The malicious joy (Schadenfreude), a sincere repentance, the hope, the humility before a failure, etc. say a lot of the person who is the subject of such lived experiences. How do these affective lived experiences or “moral emotions” reveal personal identity? This paper aims to present the main elements of the treatment of these questions by Anthony Steinbock. The pint of view of this philosopher is the phenomenological one. This means that he pays attentions to the “how” these emotions show personal identity, rather to its constructions by their subject. I also offer some critical analysis of Steinbock’s contribution.
