Abstract
The complex task of teaching-learning the wide plethora of mechanisms to convey negation in Spanish calls for the design of new efficient didactic strategies. In this article we present a teaching proposal based on the use of proverbs, whose features (their textual nature, brevity, content and even playful character) make them a very apt material to promote the reflection, comprehension and acquisition of free and phraseological constructions used in Spanish to negate inside and outside sentence margins.
