Resumo

56 cases of complex fracture of the proximal humerus are presented. The results were satisfactory at most of the patients concerning the residual pain (mean pain Constant score: 12,39/15). Nevertheless, the strength (mean strength Constant score: 9,43/25) and joint mobility of the shoulder (mean mobility Constant score: 18,48/40) remained very limited. The most important complications were resorption of the tuberosities (10,7 %), migration tuberosities (7,1 %) and superior migration of the humeral head (21,4 %). The authors analyze the factors that have influenced the results of this treatment.
