Résumé

39 cases of C3 type fracture of the proximal humerus are presented. They were treated surgically using a shoulder hemiarthroplasty. The results were satisfactory at most of the patients concerning the residual pain (mean Constant-Murley pain score: 12,49/15), the strength (mean Constant-Murley strength score: 9,62/25) and the joint mobility of the shoulder (mean Constant-Murley mobility score: 18,46/40). The most important complications were rotator cuff disorders (5 cases), tuberosities malunion (2 cases), resorption of the tuberosities (6 cases) and superior migration of the prosthesis (8 cases). C3 proximal humerus fractures are complex injuries in which the hemiarthroplasty may be a good method of treatment.
