Abstract

The rate and shape of the arterial pulse have been used for millennia in a wide range of clinical settings. Each component of the blood pressure wave; peak pressure, diastolic pressure, ejection time, rise in blood pressure during systole and mean blood pressure are the result of a complex interrelation of ventricle-arterial processes. Its correct interpretation can be very useful when making clinical decisions.
