Abstract

This article provides a summary of the construction of the Udalaitz tunnels Section 2 at the Mondragón- Bergara-Elorrio junction. part of the Vitoria-Bilbao-San Sebastián high-speed railway line, also known as the "Basque Y", whose segments link Vitoria-Gasteiz with Bilbao and San Sebastián/Donostia, with the French border. The important investment in this new network aims to respond to the t riple requirement: interconnection between capital cities, giving access to the rest of the national territory and its interconnection with the international net work. The Udalaitz tunnels are t he central element of this infrastructure, which takes the form of a large inverted triangle sorne 8 km long that crosses the Udalaitz massif by means of a complex system of tunnels. Given the length of these tunnels. t heir execution has had to overcome great risks and problems with solutions and updates in the design of the project execution that we will oescribe in the article
