Abstract

The present article aims to compare the most relevant aspects of Bill Nichols and Carl Plantinga’s documentary theories fostering an understanding of the basis on which each author builds his own approach. The article will explore the concept of “non-fiction” in both authors, the definitions of documentary they propose and the way in which Nichols and Plantinga provide different models for categorizing documentary films.
