Résumé
This paper studiesthe impact of the use of WhatsApp (instant messagingservice)in the Spanish university.The research uses qualitative and quantitative techniques to analyse the use of conventional text messages, instant messaging, the possible generated stress and the impact in the academic environment. It is concluded that comfort and gratuitousness encourage the educational use of WhatsApp, thatmost students use WhatsApp for university-related issues and belong to some group chat related to their studies and that itis an application used by university students for academic aspects.
