Abstract

The existence of the laws of nature is an area of interest both to the Philosophy of science and Theology of Creation. St. Basil of Caesarea is one of the first Fathers of the Church to tackle this topic. In his Hexaemeron he uses the term "the law of nature" to signify the orderly movement of nature as established by the creative will of God. Althought Basil draws from his predecessors, he does not limit himself to reproducing the same ideas, but he develop his own conception in a rich context based on the human positive law.
