Abstract
Saint Basil of Caesarea depicted Christian lite as a participation in Christ's life in De Spiritu Sancto XV, 35, in Epistola CCLXI and in the homily De gratiarum actione. In the tractate, he explains that man participates in Christ's death and resurrection by means of baptism. In the letter, he emphasizes that Christ had human flesh. If this were not so, he would not have redeemed us. In the homily, he offers Christ's weeping as an example for all Christians. Since these three works belong to the last years of Basil's lite, we conclude that Basil discovered the importance of this way of understanding christian life during his maturity.
