Doctor by the Universidad de Navarra with the thesis Estudio y simulación de imperfecciones en el aislamiento de cables eléctricos aislados de alta tensión 2012. Supervised by Dr. Luis Fontán Agorreta, Dr. Juan Ignacio Sancho Seuma.

José Sebastián Gutiérrez Calderón received his PhD in Automation and Industrial Electronics Engineering from the University of Navarra, San Sebastián, Spain in April 2012. He has worked professionally for more than 10 years as a specialist in the development of high-level technological projects, among which stand out the stimulus programs for research, technological development and innovation of the National Council of Humanities, Sciences and Technologies (CONAHCYT) in Mexico. He has received several academic recognitions, among them, being a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) level 1 and having received the category of full professor D, the highest academic recognition within the Universidad Panamericana and IPADE in Mexico. He is currently a full professor at the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra (Tecnun), teaching subjects in the areas of robotics and control. He is author/co-author of several scientific articles in the research lines on Internet of Things, Robotics, Industrial 4.0, Building Automation, Mechatronic Systems and Photovoltaic Solar Energy. He has a software copyright registration and a patent application. From 2012 to 2021 he served as a research professor at Universidad Panamericana, Mexico. Among the technology companies he has supported for acceleration in Mexico are ambientec (air conditioning and refrigeration company), destec (industrial automation company), aguascalien3d (virtual reality company), sky10engineering (intelligent building automation company).
