RUTH GUTIÉRREZ DELGADO is Full Professor in the Faculty of Communication at the University of Navarra, where she teaches Script and Epistemology of Communication. Visiting Professor at the Universidad de los Andes (Chile) and founder of the MYHE research group, her research and dissemination work has focused on the studies of Audiovisual Poetics (series and cinema), Myth, Heroism and Epistemology. She has recently obtained the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Scholarship to teach at the University of Hawaii (USA) during the academic year 24-25. With a degree in Journalism and a PhD in Public Communication from the University of Navarra with a thesis on The Heroic in the Cinema of John Ford, the author has devoted her research career to the study of audiovisual representation. Her academic interest in thinking fiction in relation to anthropology, literature, culture and practical philosophy has borne fruit in numerous publications where, among others, she has developed theoretical aspects such as the concept of “dramatic fallacy” (2007) or that of “ekphrasis of myth” (2023). His most recent works address the processes of mythification and heroization in narratives, as well as rationality and belief systems in communication, audiovisual logic and the ontology of representation. In the field of popular culture, he has been interested in the western, in some reformulations of the medieval and in dramatic writing from a classical perspective. He has worked on this last topic in his book Si Aristóteles levantara la cabeza. Manual de escritura de series (EUNSA, 2023). He has also co-written the film popularization book El Western renacido en el siglo XXI (Nipho, 2023). Since she began her academic life, she has been a professor in the Master's Degree in Audiovisual Screenwriting, in the Master's Degree in Communication Research and in the Master's Degree in Corporate Reputation, where she has taught the subjects of Series Project Development, Theory of Representation and Theory of Story and Narratives. His teaching work continues to develop in the direction of numerous doctoral and master's degree projects. In addition to participating in various research projects, she has carried out research stays at the University of Glasgow, the University of St. Andrews, the University College Cork, the Universität Bremen and the Università di Bologna. She has also been a professor with an Erasmus scholarship at the Media and Culture School of Torún, professor in the Diploma of Scriptwriting at the Universidad de La Sabana and professor of Ethics at the Universidad Panamericana de México, where she is a research collaborator of the group Mito, conocimiento y acción. Since 2020, she is Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Communication at the Universidad de los Andes (Chile), where she teaches the PhD course Fiction as knowledge. She is also a member of the Research team on the Representation of family ties in contemporary audiovisual at the CEU San Pablo University in Madrid. In addition to her work as a lecturer in different forums, seminars and conferences, she collaborates as a critic in the magazines Pantalla 90 and Fila 7. She has also been a member of the Jury of the Navarra International Film Festival (NIFF). The author was Vice-Dean of Students for nine years in the School of Communication at the University of Navarra.
