Carmen Pinillos is an Associate Professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Navarra. She currently teaches in the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, and Psychology at the same university. She has been a visiting professor at the Universities of Münster (Germany) and Toulouse (France). She began her career in the field of critical editions and Golden Age literature with her doctoral thesis on a sacramental play by Pedro Calderón de la Barca, "El cordero de Isaías," which was published in the complete collection of Calderón’s sacramental plays by Edition Reichenberger. Her research focuses on Spanish Golden Age literature, including burlesque comedies, sacramental plays, Quevedo, colonial poetry, Domínguez Camargo, Agustín Moreto, and emblematic literature. She has been part of several research groups, such as GRISO (founding member), TC/12, TriviUN, and Moretianos, where she has participated in various ministerial and Government of Navarra research projects. She has held several research management positions, including secretary of the complete collection of Calderón de la Barca's sacramental plays and editorial roles in journals such as “La Perinola.” Among her academic administrative roles, she served as the Director of the ILCE (Institute of Spanish Language and Culture) at the University of Navarra, overseeing all Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) instruction at the university. Her work has been recognized with her election to various positions in national and international associations, including President of the Association of Spanish Teachers (APE) of Navarra, Julio Caro Baroja, Board Member of the AISO (International Golden Age Association) from 1999-2005, and of AITENSO (International Association of Spanish and Novohispanic Theater) from 2014-2023. She has been a member of various scientific committees ("Anuario Calderoniano," "Revista Príncipe de Viana,") and has served as an editorial expert, acting as a board member of the evaluation committee for publishing grants for companies, publishers, and professionals by the Government of Navarra (2023 and 2024).
