Doctor by the Universidad de Granada with the thesis Interpretación de la resistencia genotípica del virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana. Relación con el subtipo infectante 2004. Supervised by Dr. Federico García García, Dr. Carmen Maroto Vela.

Graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Navarra (2001), after one year at the University of Cardiff (United Kingdom) with an Erasmus scholarship. PhD in Pharmacy at University of Granada (2007) for the doctoral thesis on molecular epidemiology of HIV. She is a specialist in Clinical Microbiology and Parasitology after obtaining number 31 in the FIR exam 2001 call and completing her residency at the San Cecilio Clinical Hospital in Granada (2002-2006), with stays at the Carlos III Hospital and Gregorio Marañón Hospital, in Madrid. She carried out postdoctoral research in HIV resistance for three months after specialization. Research stay of 8 months (2014-2015) at Harvard T.H.Chan School of Public Health, Dpt. Global Health (Boston) under the supervision of Prof.Fawzi. Since 2007 she has been assistant professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at University of Navarra. Associate professor (Profesora Titular) accredited by ANECA, with teaching in various undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in the Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nutrition and Nursing: Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health and Preventive Medicine (all compulsory subjects), as well as in electives of various degrees, being responsible for the subjects Public Health, Nursing Statistics and Cooperation for Development. She has been elected as the graduation speaker by the Pharmacy students of the 2013, 2017, 2020 and 2023 promotions. Priority lines of research: 1) epidemiology of HIV infection and other sexually transmitted infections in sub-Saharan Africa; 2) determinants of sexual health in young people, having participated in 11 research projects with public and private funding. Since 2010 she has been the IP of four research projects related to the determinants of HIV infection in Kinshasa (DR Congo). She has published 57 scientific articles and is the author of several books and book chapters. More than 100 communications in national and international congresses of Epidemiology, Public Health and Infectious Diseases. Supervisor of two doctoral theses on HIV infection in Kinshasa (R.D.Congo), both defended at the University of Navarra, and currently co-directing another three. Scholarship from Brown University (USA) to take the Institute Biari Global Health Politics course (January 2016). Member of the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SEIMC), and member of the AIDS Study Group (GESIDA) of SEIMC.
