Dr. Sergio Roa is a molecular biologist and Assistant Professor at the University of Navarra, with over 20 years of experience in B-cell biology and lymphoma research. He has completed a 5+ year postdoctoral stay in the USA (in the laboratory of Dr. Matthew D. Scharff, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY) and holds two recognized research periods (sexenios). His scientific contributions have elucidated key mechanisms of DNA editing, immunosuppression, and lymphomagenesis, with high-impact publications in Blood, Blood Advances, Nucleic Acids Research, J Immunother Cancer, PNAS, J Exp Med, Nature Communications, and Nature Medicine. He has led national and international R&D projects and contracts with pharma (Gilead, Roche, ONA Therapeutics), generating translational models and novel immunotherapy strategies. As Marie Curie Fellow and Ramón y Cajal-I3 Investigator, he has obtained competitive funding from MCIN-AEI and EU-POCTEFA programs, and collaborates with the technology transfer office at UNAV to valorize results. He is deeply committed to training, supervising 4 PhD theses and over 20 undergraduate and master students. As co-chair of the Master in Biomedical Research academic committee, he actively promotes excellence in biomedical research and advanced training of biomedical students. His strong international background (USA, Spain, EU) and interdisciplinary leadership show a clear dedication to advancing biomedical knowledge and societal impact through innovation, mentoring, and scientific collaboration.
