Abstract
Cernuda�s years in Great Britain (1938-47) constitute a highlight in the history of mutual influences between Spanish and English literatures, an eventful period that allowed the poet to adhere to the great trunk of a modern poetical tradition that had not formerly developed in Spain. Cernuda�s attempt may be somewhat failed or partial in many of the pieces he wrote during those years, but gave birth to a cluster of meditative poems that open a new path in his own work and in Spanish poetry.
