Abstract

This article aims to identify the main historiographical schools of thought in public relations and, alongside them, the main reasons for the development of the field. To do so, the author constructs a thorough literary review over the seminal academic works in public relations history. The article ends with the identification of systematization of different schools of thoughts, mainly North American, but lately overshadowed by emerging European initiatives in the history of public relations (PR).
