This thesis analyses the ideological and political discourses about the revolt of the Sicilian Vespers (1282), the conquest of Sicily by King Peter the Great of Aragon and the confrontation against King Charles of Anjou. It also studies the narratives of the war that was fought in Aragon and Catalonia against the Kingdom of France until 1285, starring the King of Aragon and the King of France, Philip the Bold. The aim of this research is to analyse the 13th and 14th century chronicles of this conflict. These memoirs encouraged the ideological debate, something that is being explored in this research. The narratives about the Vespers war are noteworthy because a prolific number of them appeared and, also, there was a qualitative leap in terms of memorialistic approaches that underpin political positions through ideology. Chroniclers can be divided into different ideological sides, such as the Antiangevins or the Guelphs. Through these discourses, a dialectical discussion took place among the different authors, and their purpose was to glorify their political ideas or the sovereigns they defended. They used biblical, eschatological, legal, and warlike arguments to develop these ideological controversies.
