Marcel Meyer is an Assistant Professor at the University of Navarra, specializing in ethical leadership and organizational behavior. With a combination of academic expertise and professional experience, he is positioned to lead front-line research initiatives that explore the intersection of leadership, ethics, and organizational culture. His work addresses some of the most pressing issues faced by organizations today, such as ethical decision-making or the role of leadership in fostering human thriving. Marcel’s academic contributions reflect an impressive portfolio of research papers in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Management. His work has collectively garnered over 400 citations on Google Scholar, with more than 100 citations in 2024 alone. His research interests include governance, the integration of ethical frameworks into leadership, and the role of organizational behavior in shaping positive business practices. His work frequently addresses how leadership can foster innovation, employee engagement, and long-term organizational success. Among Marcel’s recent works is a significant study co-authored with Klimczak and Hadro (2024), exploring executive communication with stakeholders on sustainability, published in Accounting in Europe. He also contributed to the development and validation of a measure of leader-expressed practical wisdom in collaboration with Rego, Reis Junior, and Pina e Cunha, featured in the Review of Managerial Science (2024). His article with Redín and Rego (2023) on the Positive Leadership Action Framework in Frontiers in Psychology highlights the practical and ethical dimensions of leadership behavior. Other notable contributions include a 2023 paper with Huehn on Aristotle’s rhetoric and leadership in Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility, and a collaborative study on gritty leaders and employee thriving in the Journal of Management (2021). Marcel’s earlier work, such as his paper in Management Research and his study in the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, demonstrates his long-standing commitment to advancing ethical leadership and organizational behavior theories. His research is informed by a blend of classical philosophy and contemporary management practices, providing a rich theoretical foundation for understanding ethics in organizations. Additionally, Marcel has served as Guest Editor for a Special Issue on Business Ethics in the Journal of Human Values, published in 2024. This role further underscores his leadership and ability to drive meaningful research discussions. Marcel’s work has also been shared at several prominent conferences, such as the European Business Ethics Network Research Conference and the European Academy of Management, where he has fostered global academic collaboration and engaged with cutting-edge research in the field of business. Marcel’s work experience further enhances his qualifications. As an International Relations Manager at a business school, he honed his leadership and communication skills, gaining insights into managing diverse stakeholders in global environments. His subsequent role as an In-company Trainer in corporations like Volkswagen and Liebherr provided him with a deeper understanding of the practical challenges of leadership in multicultural settings. These experiences have been instrumental in shaping his approach to research and teaching, allowing him to draw on real-world examples in his work. In sum, Marcel Meyer has positioned himself as a leading authority in ethical leadership and organizational behavior. His work continues to shape both the theoretical understanding of these critical areas and their practical applications within organizations.
