Research activity: He is a member of the scientific committee and principal investigator of the international research group BODE, internationally recognized for more than 100 publications in the study of COPD. He is a member of the scientific committee and principal investigator of the CHAIN study for the longitudinal follow-up of patients with COPD. He has participated as principal investigator in the recent EPISCAN II study on the prevalence of COPD in Spain. He is or has been a member of the editorial board of the journals PlosOne and Archivos de Bronconeumología. He has received funding for more than 10 research studies on the topic of COPD, emphysema, and their association with lung cancer from public and private entities. Areas of interest: COPD, emphysema and their relationship with lung cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Determination of the prevalence and impact of comorbidities associated with COPD using chest CT. Determination of body composition through low-dose CT in patients with COPD and its relationship with the natural history of the disease. Teaching Activities: He is a Full Professor of Medicine at the University of Navarra and accredited by ANECA as a Full Professor since 2009. He has achieved exemption from the chair by ANECA and is accredited as a Full Professor by the Catalan agency AQU. He was Professor of Medicine at Queen's University in Kingston Ontario Canada.
